Narrative Short Film

Matt is a man who's done a lot wrong in his life. He's got no job, a drinking problem, and a girlfriend who's getting sick of him. After several drunken nights, his girlfriend dumps him. He searches for guidance in a therapist and after describing some visions he has from these drunken nights, his therapist believes he may have been abducted by an alien. Through hypnosis, Matt is able to relive the nights he had with a friendly alien named Thorp. Abductee is a love letter to science fiction stories. What we've created is a unique new story within a genre so beloved. The alien story is not new, but what we've done is unlike anything you've seen before. Abduction stories have been done plenty of times and you always know where they're going. Abductee takes those expectations and turns it into something completely different. We make you feel scared and confused at first but then pull a complete 180 and make you laugh and cheer. This film tackles topics such as regret, coping mechanisms, and finding your purpose in life. When developing Abductee, I was most drawn to the idea of a man who has done wrong and putting that alongside an alien who has been wronged. In the film, Thorp is seen as an outcast among his people. Seeing how these two people had totally different paths and then ultimately unite to fulfill the same purpose was very interesting to me. We can all relate to not feeling like we have a path in life, which was another thing I was feeling at the time of writing this film. This isn't just a fun silly alien comedy, it's got a real heart to it which comes across beautifully in the film.

Artist Bio

Jake Limone is currently a senior at the University of Connecticut earning his BFA in Digital Media & Design with a concentration in 2D Animation. Jake is especially interested in film and has been for as long as he can remember. His earliest memories are watching superhero films as a kid and being amazed by the magic happening on screen. He's interested in all aspects of filmmaking, but particularly in writing and editing, especially in the horror and comedy genres. He loves the art of storytelling and taking people to a new place and showing them new things. Limone is passionate about telling stories and taking the audience on a journey they won't forget. He likes to play with certain genre expectations and look at these tropes with a new and fresh perspective. With the help of Jake's friends, William, Devin, and Brendan, who each bring their own mediums to these projects like costume design, set design, and music help him bring these visions to life. Jake especially loves working with a team because he likes to see people shine in their respective roles and give everyone a chance to stand out. He looks forward to working with these people more in the future with a Twilight Zone inspired series of short films as well as a new horror comedy film with a similar feel to films like Happy Death Day and Scream.
