Crocheting has become one of my favorite hobbies. I spend a lot of time designing for screens, so I truly value having a physical medium like crochet to unwind and express my creativity. While expanding my crochet skills, I noticed frustrations in collecting patterns for projects. Currently, there isn't a single online marketplace dedicated solely to crochet. Among various platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Etsy, Ravelry, and Ribblr), it became increasingly challenging for me to keep track of crochet-specific patterns. I knew other crocheters must face similar difficulties. Thus, my senior project, Yarn Over, aims to provide the ultimate crochet solution: authentic patterns in one consolidated place—just one platform dedicated to crochet.

Artist Bio

Karli Vare is a designer from Fairfield, Connecticut. Her work centers on digital experiences, but she also has a passion for graphic and print design. With a particular love for design research and ideation, Karli aims to provide a user-centric design experience behind every project. She particularly enjoys crafting the feeling and entire “universe” behind a brand or concept. Outside of designing, Karli’s artistic persona is reflected in her crochet or culinary pursuits, or her outdoor adventures, in which she often finds artistic inspiration in nature’s palette of colors, patterns, and textures.
