I’m Sorry for Your Loss is a narrative short film that follows the emotional journey of Jonah as he copes with the loss of his girlfriend. This starts off when he encounters a mysterious woman named Jenna who offers him comfort, causing Jonah to come to terms about his past and reflection on his deceased girlfriend.
Artist Bio
Born and raised in Norwalk, CT, Shannon Nasution is a filmmaker, storyteller, and artist. She is currently a senior at UConn Stamford, pursuing a BFA in Digital Media and Design with a concentration in Film/Video Production.
She was always invested in the process of filmmaking by using an iPad as her video camera and a notebook as her writing tool. It was a great technique for her to gain knowledge in that field. Nasution took a long pause on film to focus on her associate degree in Web Development during her P-TECH Norwalk years, from 2016 to 2020. During that time, Nasution developed a mixture of hard and soft skills such as coding languages, digital designing, public speaking, and design thinking.
Despite the different fields, she was always eager to express herself through her artistic work. When Nasution started her journey in film and video production at UConn, it was her chance to dive deeper into the fine arts realm. Nasution feels very proud and lucky to take the chance to put herself out there as a filmmaker, storyteller, and artist. Today, Nasution is living the experience on film sets, pursuing a variety of roles such as director, writer, producer, editor, and cinematographer. She has made three directorial debuts on a music documentary and a short narrative film in 2022. Nasution’s senior project, I’m Sorry for Your Loss is marked as her third film to direct, write, and produce.
