With fifteen combined National Championships and countless historic moments, the UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs have become the royalty of college basketball. Residents of Connecticut, UConn alumni, students, and others all join forces to create one of college basketball’s premier atmospheres. Gampel Pavilion, home of the UConn Huskies, has seen many amazing players, coaches, and fans walk through the doors. Story of Success: UConn Basketball is a 3D Animation that explores the rich history of UConn Basketball through a unique lens. Through a re-creation of Gampel Pavilion in Cinema4D, the viewer is taken through an exciting virtual journey of the historic stadium, with a few of UConn Basketball’s greatest moments making an appearance in key locations of the pavilion.
Having worked for the basketball team for all four years of my time at UConn, I feel passionate about the team, and the work that I do with them. It has been a blessing to be able to connect with the staff and players, and to understand how special a college team can be. Working on content for the recruiting process often requires tight deadlines and very specific requests. This project gives me an opportunity to explore my creativity further and focus greater attention on the entire history of the programs. I hope this project expresses how special the basketball programs at UConn are to not only me, but to other fans and alumni.

Artist Bio

Sergei LeFaivre is a BFA Digital Media and Design student at the University of Connecticut, with a concentration in Motion Design and Animation. Raised in Boston, Massachusetts he grew up watching the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and the New England Patriots. He gets his inspiration for his artwork from attending live sporting events, and watching games on television, with an eye for the graphics that are used in both settings. Combining his love for sports and design, Sergei aspires to work in the sports industry after graduation. He currently works as a Content Creator for UConn Men’s Basketball, working on graphics and videos for social media and recruiting.
