My entire life, I’ve grown up in a family that is very passionate about cooking and baking. Still to this day, it’s uncommon in my house to find the kitchen empty. Throughout their lives, my parents have accumulated a multitude of physical recipe books, magazine cut outs, and more. It was noticeably frustrating for them to have to sort through boxes or books to find the right recipe they were looking for. To help make their lives easier, I am creating a website, La Cuisine de Chau that will act as a database and hold all my parents’ favorite recipes. This will allow them to quickly and easily access specific recipes, whether they use their phones or laptops. This will be a huge difference, since it will eliminate the process of searching for the physical sheet. My aim is to create a simple replacement that will lessen time and stress, while also freeing our house of unnecessary clutter.
My family and my interest in digital media are two things I value immensely. It was an easy decision for me to choose a project related to what I am passionate about while also creating that project for my parents. As it is my senior project, giving something back to them now is my way of thanking them for supporting me through the last four years of college. I hope to create something I am proud of, gain new experience and skills within the field I am interested in, and produce something that my parents can find useful in the long run.
