Something that is consistent throughout animated films is a unique way to present a story that can not be expressed through traditional means. While there are various factors when it comes to storytelling through the medium of 3D Animation, I feel the most important takeaway of any story is how the audience can relate to the character and experience their own emotions through the work. The audience is vital to a work of art because their identification helps project the impact and effectiveness of the piece. In this 3D animated short, I hope to convey a relatable story through a character the audience can create a personal connection with.

In the story I present the theme of gluttony in a different light. Gluttony, while a negative trait, can be used to create and define very interesting characters. Gluttony is something that drives a character and directs a character's motives, but what if the character was not aware of it? With a character being blind to their chronic gluttony, how will they act when presented with a new perspective and what happens if they become apparent to it?

Artist Bio

Miles Waterbury is a senior DMD BFA undergraduate student concentrating in 3D animation. While pursuing his degree and working closely within the 3D field, Miles has also worked on various long term projects outside his field, including a long term 2D animation project as well as being a key member and leader of the UConn Marching Band Media Team. Miles always takes it upon himself to consistently absorb and learn new information, as there is always something unknown to be found. Whether it be dabbling in a new form of digital art or learning a new style of animation, Miles does not hesitate to widen his circle of skills. Driven by his past experiences, Miles tries to outdo his past work under the guiding principle, you are only as good as your most recent work. Always trying to spread joy and share his happiness with others, Miles hopes to entertain others and do so through the various digital mediums he has come to learn and master throughout his time at the University of Connecticut.
