Artist Bio
Samantha Snevily is a digital media creator from Long Island, New York, and a Senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Media and Design with a concentration in Film/Video Production and a minor in Communications. She blends creativity and technology to craft meaningful stories across various mediums. As an intern with UConn Athletics, she produces dynamic sports content, from live updates to short-form videos. Samantha also serves as Chief Marketing Officer for UConn Student Television, freelances through her business, Snev Studios, and is the Public Relations Chair for the UConn Dance Company, managing its social media presence. Her work has earned multiple accolades, including awards from Lift-Off Global Network, the UCTV Film Festival, and the NYSJR-RSA Student Video Contest. Guided by creativity, authenticity, and empathy, she approaches each project with fresh eyes, always seeking opportunities to collaborate and tell stories that resonate emotionally.
Artist Statement
When I came up with this idea, I was driving with a friend, listening to The Great Escape by Boys Like Girls. I explained how I wanted love to feel like that song, and that conversation sparked the creation of my film. Music has always been a constant in my life. Growing up as a dancer and now working in digital media, I’ve seen how sound can transform emotions and shape how we perceive our lives. Music can turn ordinary moments into something deeply personal, while also connecting us through shared feelings and spaces. That universal yet intimate power of music became the foundation for this project. Echoes of Us explores themes of transition, growth, and emotional transformation. Music acts as the catalyst, bridging inner emotions and outer realities. Through a series of interconnected vignettes, the film shows how personal experiences are often universally relatable. A shared space ties the stories together, illustrating how music connects us even in life’s chaotic moments, revealing the emotional landscapes we carry within. I hope viewers find reflections of their own lives within the film and leave with a deeper appreciation for how music can emotionally transport us, echoing our inner worlds.
