Artist Statement
“Paradox” is a 3D animated psychological horror set in Eastern Asia, following a road worker who spirals into madness after discovering his partner’s mysterious death. As he unravels dark secrets and confronts his own guilt, the line between reality and hallucination blurs, pushing him toward an uncertain and dangerous truth. I began creating this project in March 2024 with the goal of producing a 2–3-minute animated film based on a short story I was writing. However, as I explored 3D animation and developed an interest in game art, I decided to pivot the project into a 1-minute animated trailer for a video game concept. This animation is my first step into in-depth 3D modeling and serves as a fusion of the animation techniques I’ve honed throughout my college journey with my interest in game art. I see this as a challenge—pushing myself into a new medium that, while familiar, is still unexplored in many ways. My hope for “Paradox” is that it will captivate audiences, leaving them intrigued and eager to see more of this eerie world I’ve begun to create.
