Artist Statement
Peach Pie is a 3D animated short following Nia, a hopeless romantic struggling with feelings of inadequacy. When she meets Max, she’s swept into a love story that makes her feel seen and valued. The film explores the complexities of self-worth, questioning whether love can shape our identity or if true self-worth can exist without external validation. The title serves as a metaphor for nostalgia, a comforting but confining space that distorts our choices and traps us in an idealized past. Inspired by works like FLCL, I wanted to create an immersive world that blurs the lines between reality and imagination, offering viewers a warm escape while prompting reflection. Peach Pie is both a love letter to the media that influenced me and an exploration of how nostalgia can both comfort and limit us, especially in love.
