Artist Bio

Ben Murphy is a Digital Media & Design student majoring in Film and Video Production at UConn. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Ben has had a love for storytelling since the moment he picked up a pen. As time went on, he has become an experienced storyteller, whether through writing, acting, or vocal performance.

It is Ben’s goal to one day work at an ad agency or a film company. He enjoys the pre-production and production phases of film and loves to make works of comedy along with experimenting in more serious works of drama. Ben’s goal is to simply create works that entertain and bring joy to people around the world.

Artist Statement

A story of two writers struggling to come up with a fight scene, Final Showdown blends playful absurdity with meta-storytelling, inviting the audience to laugh at the characters’ over-the-top vision they’ve created. Will their film become the next big thing? Or will it crash and burn with the rest?

Comedic storytelling has always been my first love as a filmmaker. Final Showdown is a homage to the slapstick comedies of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s that have always been a huge inspiration in my work. Action oriented films are also a favorite of mine, but being able to add a comedic twist to it that is both funny and absurd makes it all the better for me to envision what I want to create. With this film I hope to hone my craft to the next level and continue pushing the limits of what I can do. I plan on bringing the audience the gift of laughter through my comedic film.
