Artist Bio

Kayla Tang is a UI/UX designer and Digital Media and Design student concentrating in Web and Interactive Media Design, based in West Hartford, Connecticut. She creates human-centered digital experiences grounded in empathy, accessibility, and intentional interaction design, with a focus on making digital spaces feel clear, supportive, and emotionally considerate. Her work prioritizes intuitive navigation, accessible layouts, and thoughtful visual systems that reduce cognitive load and foster ease. Skilled in user research, wireframing, prototyping, interaction design, visual design, and accessibility-focused design, Kayla approaches each project with strong attention to user needs. One of her featured projects, Safe Space, is a wellness app that supports emotional, mental, and physical well-being through guided reflections, grounding exercises, and gentle daily check-ins, using soft visuals, mindful micro-interactions, and inclusive language to create comfort and safety. Through projects like this, she views design as a form of care that helps users feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Artist Statement

Eventure is a campus events app designed to help students stay connected and make the most of their college experience by providing a centralized space where they can easily discover everything happening on campus, from club meetings and sports games to fundraisers and social events. The idea emerged from recognizing how often students miss opportunities when event information is scattered across multiple platforms, so Eventure brings all activities into one place to make it easier to explore new opportunities, follow personal interests, and actively participate in campus life. The app builds community through social and personalized features that encourage engagement and connection, including personalized onboarding for smarter event discovery, timely reminders that help students attend events, an interactive campus map for easy navigation, and a social media–style recap feed where students can share highlights, see what their peers attended, and catch up on moments they missed, extending the experience beyond the event itself. More than just an event-finding tool, Eventure aims to foster a stronger sense of campus community by helping students feel informed, involved, and connected to the people and moments that shape their college experience.
