Artist Statement
Wishing is a heartfelt short film that explores human emotions and connections. Told through simple, intimate visuals, the film emphasizes the beauty of the smaller things in life, capturing the moments of grief that often go unseen. My film seeks to help those that have lost someone close to them and serve as a reminder that they are not alone.
After the passing of a close friend, I began to ask myself how people cope with such a major loss. Whether through humor, tears, or pushing those feelings away, I learned that every journey is unique. For the past few years, my own grief has been a catalyst for understanding myself and grasping how others process their own experiences. Wishing is an exploration of the complexity and conflicting emotions surrounding grief and loss. While I have previously made films about human connection and beauty in everyday life, this film pushes me into a new territory of ruptured connections and their aftermath.
