Artist Statement

My game, Pantheon, strives to be a fun and simple introduction to tabletop role-playing games. I originally created the idea for this game over the summer for my family to play because I wanted to share this medium for storytelling with them. It was a huge success, such a success that I decided to make it my Senior project. Those looks of pure joy and enthusiasm on my family’s faces became my motivation to make this project.

Table-top roleplaying games and roleplaying video games are essential parts of my queerness, transness, and identity. Without these spaces and forms of expression, I do not know how I would have lived. These spaces gave me a break to be my true self free from judgement and criticism. I am going to make games where people like me can be themselves and Pantheon is just the start.
I wanted to create a game that inspires players to not give up on their dreams. People may play this game when they are going through a rough patch in their life, and I hope this will motivate them to pursue their great ideas and turn them into a reality. The contrast between losing one’s creative spark or memories and still finding strength through hope is very meaningful to me; and is the heart of what I want this game to express.
