Artist Statement
“Lullabree” is an interactive mobile application designed to create a calming and culturally enriching musical sleep experience for children ages 0-5, with a specific focus on families within the Black community. This innovative app curates a collection of soothing lullabies, frequency melodies, and nature noises that not only help little ones drift peacefully to sleep but also reflect and celebrate their cultural heritage. Understanding the challenges that parents often face when searching for music that is both age-appropriate and culturally relevant, “Lullabree” simplifies the process by offering a carefully vetted library of high-quality, meaningful content. Prioritizing uplifting, educational, and culturally significant sounds that foster a sense of belonging and pride. More than just a sleep aid, “Lullabree” serves as a tool for cultural connection, helping parents introduce their children to the rich musical traditions of the Black diaspora from an early age. This app ensures that every Black child has access to soothing sounds that resonate with their identity, nurture their sense of self, and provide comfort as they grow. Through “Lullabree”, I aspire to celebrate my cultural roots and offer families a resource that makes bedtime a more meaningful and peaceful experience, filled with melodies that feel like home.
