Tatyanna Kelly is a senior majoring in Digital Media and Design with a focus on 3D animation. As a skilled Motion Graphics animator, visual effects editor, and 3D Generalist, she has a passion for creating captivating and inspiring work. With over five years of experience in motion graphics, compositing, and video editing, her curiosity has driven her to master 3D techniques, further expanding her creative skills. What excites Tatyanna most about the creative process is seeing all the individual elements come together to create a final product. For her, creating is not only a way to express herself but also a way to continuously learn and develop new skills, all while captivating her audience and sharing the excitement she feels during the process. Her ultimate goal is to inspire others and continue growing as an animator and creator.
Artist Statement
This animation explores the emotional journey of loss, reflection, and renewal in friendship. It follows a protagonist grappling with the pain of drifting apart from her closest friend after an ambiguous fight, mirroring the confusion of fractured relationships. Subtle social media cues and poignant moments highlight the growing distance, emphasizing her isolation and longing. A pivotal scene shows her reflecting on their bond while staring at a wall of shared memories, sparking both sadness and determination to reconnect. However, her friend’s cold dismissal forces her to confront the irreparable nature of their bond. The environment shifts to mirror her inner turmoil, with a photo—symbolizing their friendship—slipping away as she futilely chases it, representing the struggle to hold onto what’s lost. In the climax, she falls, emotionally and physically spent, but a new connection emerges as someone offers a hand. Accepting it marks a turning point, and her final smile reflects resilience, acceptance, and hope. Through visual storytelling and metaphor, the animation captures the universal themes of heartbreak and renewal, illustrating the journey from clinging to the past to embracing new beginnings.
