Artist Statement

My project, Catastrophe, tells a heartfelt and humorous story about a cat’s chaotic journey to bake the perfect Valentine’s Day cake for her boyfriend. Inspired by an advertisement she sees on TV, Cat embarks on an adventure filled with earnest attempts and a series of comedic mishaps. As a 2D animator, my work is driven by a passion for storytelling and bringing characters to life. Through Cat’s baking disaster, I explore themes of love, effort, and the joy found in giving. The animation is based on a personal experience I shared with my boyfriend, where I tried to bake him a sweet treat for Valentine’s Day—but things didn’t quite go as planned. Despite the imperfect result, the love and effort behind the gesture made it memorable. Focusing on Cat’s personality and the quirky details of her baking adventure, I aim to craft a narrative that resonates with viewers, evoking both laughter and empathy.
