Artist Statement

“The Dog Pound” is a documentary film about the student-made, student-led, house-venue located off the campus of the University of Connecticut. After the experiences of house concerts of previous years, I immediately knew that covering the story of this new location would be something I’m incredibly passionate about. The goal of this film was to learn about what went into the creation of such a space, and how different people are affected by its existence. Throughout multiple months of filming, a wide variety of concerts and musicians were captured. Most importantly, “The Dog Pound” covers the lives of the people who put it all together, the performers, and of course, the supporters.
